Welcome to RNR Farms! We are a small crop and cattle farm in the gorgeous Laurel Highlands Mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania. We raise Red Angus beef from pasture to plate and a select offering of seedstock every year. We want what's best for our family and we'd like to share that with yours as well.
We are passionate about GROWING. Whether that's crops, cattle or kids (haha). We love watching them grow and we do our best to do the best by what we are growing. So, whether that's corn in the field or calves on pasture, we are always learning and evolving so that we can do our very best to take care of this little piece of heaven that God placed us on.
We are a small, family operation, run primarily by myself and my wonderful husband, Tim, and the help of our kids. We love farming, we love raising cattle, it is something we are truly passionate about and believe that it is God's calling on our lives to take care of His creation. It's not an easy calling, but we strive for our best every single day.
First and foremost, we offer high quality, delicious beef. Available in both bulk quantities and individual cuts. Born and raised here at RNR, we pasture raise and grain finish our cattle for not only nutritious but also the most delicious beef you will ever eat.
Every year we offer the best of the best of our herd as seedstock. We sell registered Red Angus bulls as well as registered and commercial females. We believe in raising seedstock that will thrive in real-world conditions and meet the demands of the commercial beef operation.
We also offer a variety of tallow-based products ranging from soaps to salves and balms as well as pure tallow that is all made from tallow rendered from our own animals. All products are handcrafted and made from 100% natural ingredients.
Have you ever given your child something and 5 seconds later they've already lost it? Cattle are like that with ear ID tags and will constantly lose them no matter what you try. But why ID at all? IDs are important because they allow us to keep track of all the essential information about that particular animal for its entire lifetime. When an animal was sick, how it was treated. Growth records. Birth records. You name it, you can find it under their ID#. Freeze brands allow us to permanently ID the animal so we always know who is who, even when they've lost their ear tag...again.
Freeze branding is permanent and painless. It uses extreme cold to alter the cells in the hair follicle the produce pigment, which causes the hair to regrow as white. It takes about 45 seconds and the process only bothers the animal for about 3-5 seconds and the area is completely numb.
We use liquid nitrogen and a brass branding iron to freeze brand. The branding iron was made specifically for us with our farm brand that is registered with the state of Pennsylvania. If you see our brand, you know exactly where that animal came from.
